TMA South

The TMA SOUTH Area of responsibility (AoR) is shown below:

The western part of the TMA NORTH sector is delegated to TMA SOUTH in peak periods. This delegated part is also referred to as the "Fillet".

Holding:

Holding can be accomplished at the following facilities:

AFNAN (Inbound track 268° right hand, minimum level 8,000 ft and maximum FL240.)

KIVAM (Inbound track 263 right hand, minimum level 8,000 ft (subject to OTD28) and maximum FL240

EMEXA (Inbound track 040° left hand, minimum level 8000 ft and maximum FL240)

GINTO (Inbound track 087°, right hand, minimum level 8,000 ft and maximum FL240.

Holding will be required when:

  1. The approach sequence is reaching more than 25 miles final;
  2. 5 - 6 mile in trail spacing is not possible during Independent Parallel Operation (IPO= and when the western trombone is at capacity; and
  3. An AMAN (when available) issues a holding advisory.

    STARs:

Note: As the course progresses, a designated section focusing on STARs in greater detail will be delivered.

Within the TMA SOUTH AoR, the following STARS will deliver traffic to the appropriate downwind for the allocated runway.

The STARs designators are associated with runways and the downwind legs as follows:

    Runways 15/16

F          Extended routes to Westerly downwind

P          Extended routes to Easterly downwind

    K          Route via GINTO

    Runways 33/34

L          Extended routes to Westerly downwind

R          Extended routes to Easterly downwind

     J           Via GINTO

Peak Period SIDs:

  • During the Peak periods, when notified, the TULUB SIDs from all Runways will be handed over from APP WEST to TMA SOUTH.

Secondary SIDs:

  • It is intended that Secondary SIDs are replaced by Radar Departures which fly the initial departure track (as shown below) to ensure independent departures followed by a radar vector to the FIR exit waypoint. By removing the secondary SIDs, multiple crossing points with primary SIDs are removed, allowing more direct routes to be built into the Primary SIDs.
  • The Radar Departure will be designated according to the departure runway and will be designed to used independently from the Primary SID.
  • The relevant APP controller will receive the aircraft climbing to the initial level as specified above and provide further climb, when clear to do so, to 12,000 feet, and provide a clearance/vector to the designated exit point.
  • The relevant APP controller will hand-over the aircraft to TMA SOUTH when routing direct to an expected waypoint or the exit point according to the Table below:
